Camp America

A message below from Jessika, a 2012 Camp America participant:

Hey CA!

Just wanted to thank you again for the amazing experience you guys made possible. I did so many things this summer that would not have been possible without you. Thought I would write you guys a brief summary so you know just how amazing my summer was! Have added a few photo too; 4th of July, with the goat in the nature section at camp, hiking in the NJ mountains and our colour war break!

So camp in general was just so much fun, I had kids aged 10-11 and loved every one of them. I worked as part of the ropes crew, on the giant swing. It was tiring work, but so much fun.  Throughout camp i went on multiple trips/excursions. We went bowling, to the movies and on a hike through the mountains in New Jersey. It was amazing! There were so many fun themed days too; 4th of July, Looney Tunes Day, carnivals, Inside Out/Back to Front & of course colour war! Colour war was probably one of my favourite days at camp. The kids got so into it and it was just so much fun.  Matisyahu, a Jewish artist put on a concert at camp one day, which was incredible, another favourite day! Mealtimes were another thing i loved about camp, after each meal we would sing songs, perform our divisional cheers and dance.  Alot of people complained about the food at camp, but i loved it! Bagels, grilled cheese, mac & cheese, spaghetti, it was awesome! Apart from being at camp, the experiences i had on my days off and after camp, thanks to the friends I made were incredible. On days off we went to places like New York, the Jersey Shore & our friends lake houses. So many memories made! Since camp, I have travelled to New York, Orlando, Miami & cruised the Bahamas!!! I travelled with the people I met at camp and had an absolute blast. I am currently in New Orleans, visiting a friend from camp, staying in a college dorm and getting the full college experience. It’s amazing! In a few days i head to NYU, where i’m staying in a sorority house with another friend. My life feels like a teenage chick flick right now! It’s so surreal!  At the moment i am planning on coming back to camp next year, and hopefully bringing a friend! I remember my first day of camp, my camp director said to us ‘Camp is something that gets under your skin, that’s why so many people come back’. I remember looking at her thinking she was crazy, but now i completely get it. Our camp’s slogan was ‘Home Away From Home’, and that’s completely what this summer was. I cried like a baby when I left camp and can’t wait to go back! THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS ALL POSSIBLE!

wokiepokieable asked: Hi there, just wondering when information on the 2013 summer trips will begin to become available! Im keen to look into it when deciding wether to take a gap year next year!! :)

I can’t wait to be back at summer camp this year. I love coaching. Almost as much as I love riding.
